TJ
I grew up in a small house with one brother and two sisters. I married my wife Kim, whom I met in high school, as I was attending college.
We have two great sons and always have at least one dog around here. Most of the time, we had two.
I am an avid golfer and motorcycle enthusiast, when I am not working on some carving of some sort.
Both my father and my brother worked with wood in their jobs as patternmakers. I was around wood working the whole time as I grew up.
I still work full time and live for the day I can retire and just work on woodcarvings.
I love working with wood, it has such a good feel to it and gives you a feeling of satisfaction when you've completed a great piece.
I started carving around 2000, when my dad had some tools that belonged to his father, and loaned them to me. I quickly learned that tools get dull and you need to know how to sharpen them correctly. I am always learning different and sometimes better ways to sharpen.
My first true carving I did was of an Katchina for my parents, who at that time lived in Tucson AZ.
I strive to do the best I can on every carving I do. I love to get into the details. I try to do my homework before working on any piece. PRIDE goes into everything!
Hope you like what you see, and I hope I can make an item for you some time.
